Support for parents and families

Helping the parents and families of disabled people is just as important as supporting the individuals themselves. Many parents worry that their children will not have the same opportunities as others and therefore unlikely to succeed in mainstream education. Emma provides reassurance  that their child, brother or sister can amount to something very special and she is living proof of this.

The support Emma provides to the families of disabled students includes:

  • Reassurance and empathy through hand-on support
  • Assistance with paperwork relating to applications, funding and social services support
  • Working alongside Special Needs Co-ordinators in colleges and universities as an independent third party
  • Providing knowledge of the educational system so that families know exactly what is happening with their child or relative
  • Support in accessing the wide range of other support avalible
